The mountain wanted to devour me, and hold me in its stomach forever. This route was going to be the longest climb of my life. A vertical net gain of 2000 meters seemed nearly impossible at my ability level. I wanted to climb the route more than I have ever wanted to climb anything else in my life.
Scott and I began climbing The North West Ridge of Aguja Mermoz into The North Pillar of Cerro Fitz Roy. We free climbed up to 5.11, and used points of aid, pendulums, and rappels to navigate through the tricky ridges along with wet and icy cracks. We successfully completed the wild idea to climb one of the longest route in El Chalten.
Climbing has always been a quintessential part of finding purpose. In the seemingly never-ending whirlwind of positive and negative emotions, I found peace in Patagonia.

In April 2012, co-founder of Rios Libres, James “Q” Martin arrived in Santiago on the heels of the landmark decision that approved a proposal to dam two of Patagonia’s pristine rivers, the Baker and the Pascua.
Amidst the chaos of protests, Q travelled the length of Chile to create Streams of Consequence. The result is a solution-based documentary that addresses the difficult, unanswered questions including, “What does an alternative energy model look like?” “How do the Chileans feel about it?” and “Could Chile become a global leader by gaining energy independence via green technology?”
Streams of Consequence premiered at the 2013 Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival and will continue to show across the country via Wild and Scenic, other film festivals and grassroots screenings.

They found beautiful lines, harsh weather, friendly locals and one of the steepest and most technical lines they ever seen on the Whillans ramp of Aguja Poincenot – Maybe one of the steepest and most exposed lines ever skied.

Irish mountaineers Clare O'Leary and Mike O'Shea have succeeded in their attempt to cross the North Patagonia Ice Cap in Chile. They are believed to be the first Irish team to have completed the 250 km trek. It took 19 days to complete and the pair had to battle against freezing temperatures and 100 mile an hour winds in one of the world's most inhospitable environments. the Irish duo hope to become the first Irish team to reach the North Pole on foot next year.

For the past 12 years, Club Náutico Escualo, (Escualo = Shark) a youth kayak club in the remote Patagonian town of Cochrane, Chile has taught kids between the ages of 4 and 18 to kayak on the emerald waters of the nearby Baker River. In the process, the club has fostered integrity, community, and love for the environment. Now the Baker is threatened by the construction of two mega dams that would destroy the river and one of the last four-great wildernesses on earth, while forever altering the town of Cochrane and the lives of the Escualos.

PUELO SIN REPRESA: RÍO MANSO: La gran cuenca hidrográfica del sur de Chile después del Rio Baker en Aysen, es el Río Puelo. La cuenca se ubica administrativamente en la Comuna de Cochamo a 138 km de Puerto Montt, Provincia de Llanquihue, Región de los Lagos. La totalidad de la cuenca bi nacional, tiene una superficie aproximada de 880.000 hectáreas, de las cuales el 65,9 % o 580.000 hectáreas son de jurisdicción Argentina y solo 300.000 hectáreas o el 34,1 %, se ubican en Chile." La empresa española de energía Endesa tiene proyectado construir una gran central hidroeléctrica, represando este río con un muro de 100 m de altura, e inundando cerca de 5000 ha. Un selecto grupo de amigos y asociados del presidente de Chile, el empresario Sebastián Piñera, ademas han tomado el control de mas de 100 mil hectáreas de esta cuenca, además de los derechos de agua de Río Manso, y el objetivofinal es el desarrollo de una central hidroeléctrica Mediterraneo S.A., para suministrar energía para el sector minero del norte de Chile. El remate de aguas de Río Manso, realizada el año 2008, por una cifra cercana a los 44 millones de dólares, marco un hito en el proceso de remates de este vital elemento en el denominado Mercado del Agua en Chile. El ministerio de Obras Publicas, en un polémico proceso, adjudico el caudal de este pequeño río, el cual es tributario de la mas importante cuenca hidrográfica binacional del sur de Chile después del Baker, es decir Río Puelo. La sociedad denominada Mediterráneo S.A., marca un nuevo frente de conflicto con la ciudadanía, pero esta vez con consecuencias internacional, ya que se interviene una cuenca binacional, amparada por protocolos y acuerdos entre Argentina y Chile. Este conflicto, se destacara de los otros ya existentes, debido al grupo de inversionistas involucrados, quienes son los reales dueños del proyecto energético, y que están directamente conectados con las esferas de poder y gobierno en Chile, y que deteriorara la ya maltrecha imagen del empresario Sebastián Piñera y actual presidente de Chile.
