Patagonia is a region of Chile which is renowned for its hostile weather and remote mountains. Three kayakers decided to take on the adventure of a life time. Paddling 800km over 33 days. The team paddled down the west coast of Patagonia, exploring the fjords and discovering the glaciers hardly ever seen by others. The team deal with serious weather, icebergs in currents, and navigate through a maze of fjords, all in one of the worlds truly remote places. This is a short film of their expedition.

However, no one would have imagined these incisor-toothed vermin would one day lay waste to Patagonia’s forests. Today, there are roughly 100,000 beavers in the region and their environmental destruction has allegedly led to the most transformative destruction of its southern ecosystem since the last ice age. We traveled to the southernmost tip of Chile to meet the beaver hunters in charge of crudely restoring order to its ecosystem. Seedlight Pictures premieres a new film:
GROWING LOCAL—A mid-length film in three parts that explores the growing pains of the local food movement and the uncertain fate of the farmers and farmland that keep it alive.
The locavore movement is old news. Growing Local takes the conversation to the next level. While "buying local" is on the rise, these three poignant vignettes make clear that small farms and access to locally produced food is not a sure thing. In Growing Local, we meet father and son organic dairy farmers struggling with the realities of producing a commodity food product to keep their farm going and in the family, we follow an artisanal butcher who helps us understand how healthy, thoughtful meat production can be supported and sustained, and the series closes with the story of a young farm couple who, on risky sweat-equity, have revitalized a fertile piece of farmland into a thriving community food hub. These stories help us to better understand the interconnected fates of farmers and farmland, consumers and the local food movement.

Second part of our travel - almost 4 months of cycling through the amazing Chile. After a really tough start we fell in love with our bikes, but first of all we fell in love with the country. Few things come to my mind when I think 'Chile': beautiful landscapes, difficult past, very friendly and helpful people and unfortunately, a lot of hidden, mainly environmental problems (contamination from mines, HidroAysén project).
It was a really wonderful time. Many thanks to all good people we've met on our way!

Fly Fishing in Patagonia.... great season 2013-2014
By Francisco Castano
Sun, 03 Aug 2014 11:31:04 GMT
In the fall of 2013, my grandmother passed away after living a full and beautiful life for 83 years.
In the wake of her passing, we all struggled in different ways to cope with the loss of such an immense force of love in our lives.
The answer, as it so often seems to be, was to seek a complete immersion in nature, to be reminded of the immortal majesty of our planet. I was incredibly fortunate to be joined by my strong and beautiful mother on an adventure of a lifetime to the end of the earth in both Chilean and Argentinian Patagonia. Every footstep guided by my grandmother's memory, we found ourselves in some of the most beautiful places on earth, some of which are seen here.
We hope you enjoy our story,

Greg Couch is a writer who specializes in adventurous and historic subjects. He has a particular obsession with the storm-swept peaks of Patagonia, and has made seven expeditions to those remote mountains including a number of world-class first ascents. Greg's career has been built from following his intellectual and adventurous interests to their absolute conclusions. A graduate of West Point, Greg completed the U.S. Army Airborne and Ranger schools, ultimately leading an infantry platoon in Panama where he earned the Combat Infantryman's Badge. He left the Army to pursue other interests, most notably in adventure travel, rock and ice climbing, and high-stakes international mountaineering. Along the way, he also became a writer. Among many dozens of articles, Greg has written about a U.S.-Iranian climbing exchange for The Atlantic and adventuring in Oman and Patagonia for National Geographic. For five years, he was a senior contributing editor at Climbing. His alpine memoir, Enduring Patagonia, is considered a modern classic in climbing circles. One day, he hopes to write about surfing — his passion of more than 30 years, and the one about which he hasn't yet written a word.
