Nicole Plagemann recognized as world's best female rafting athlete

On February 10, Ensenada, Chile, native Nicole Plagemann was named the world’s best female rafting athlete by the World Rafting Organization. The "World Rafting Awards" ceremony was held online and acknowledged top-performing sports men and women throughout 2021, taking into account not only the World Championships, but also national events.

Drought and high temperatures, coupled with out-of-control intentional burning practices, led to massive fires last month in the northern Argentine province of Corrientes that have so far consumed nearly 60 percent of Iberá National Park. The fires threaten South America's largest wetland, along with its grasslands and forests that are habitat for diverse wildlife, including a host of endangered species.

Ecoceanos News - Salmon production from southern Chile was rated with a red note by SeafoodWatch, a Monterey Bay Aquarium program that observes the conditions in which salmon farms operate in the world and that every five years prepares a report of recommendations regarding the production of these species.
