The Patagonia Photo Contest is back for its seventh edition. First organized in 2012, this year's contest has the best prizes yet.
As in our previous contests, there are four categories for photos taken in Chilean and Argentine Patagonia: Wildlife, Landscape, Travel & Culture, and Outdoor Adventure. The top photo from among these four categories will win the Patagonia Photographer of the Year award and its grand prize: a Sony Alpha 6700 mirrorless camera and a six-day trip to explore the Puelo region of northern Patagonia, Chile, with Tawa Refugio, Rincón Bonito, and Puelo Libre.
The winner of the Readers' Choice Award will receive a 6-day trip with Cruce Andino, sailing across Andean Patagonian lakes with stays at Hotel Bellavista in Puerto Varas, Hotel Tres Reyes in Bariloche, and Hotel Natura in Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park.
Additionally, we have a special Last Wild Places category again this year. This category accepts photographs taken in any country in the world. It seeks images that "communicate the urgency of conserving, protecting, and restoring the last wild places." The winning prize includes the use of a camper van from Camper Travel for 1 week in southern Chile, a visit to Termas de Pichicolo in Hornopiren, and a set of photo books from Rewilding Chile.
First place winners in each category will receive generous gift cards from Patagonia for their stores in Chile. Tribu will give gift cards for their camping equipment, and Klean Kanteen will give a special collection bottle. There are also books from Libro Verde, native colihue wood trekking poles from 4 Lobos, Andes Handbook guide maps, gift cards for use at Cassis Café, tickets to Termas del Sol, and a mega pack of back issues of Patagon Journal's magazine.
This year's panel of judges includes Pablo García Borboroglú, founder of the Global Penguin Society; Juanita Ringeling, a Chilean actress, singer and environmentalist; and Guy Wenborne, Eliseo Miciu, Cristian Larrere, Nicolás Gantz, and Andel Paulman, five photographers from Chile and Argentina who have won numerous awards and had their photos featured in books, magazines, and exhibitions around the world.
Winners will receive their prizes at an awards ceremony to be held next year in Santiago, Chile, and their photographs will be displayed in an exhibition.
The contest is open to professional and amateur photographers. The deadline for submitting entries is February 10, 2026.
